How to Harvest Green Bean Seeds
- 1). Choose the healthiest bearing plants in your garden from which to save seeds. The plants should be free of any disease and should produce uniform-sized bean pods.
- 2). Allow the pods to dry on the vine. It takes approximately six weeks past the eating stage of the bean pods for them to dry thoroughly.
- 3). Pull the entire bean plant from the ground if a heavy frost is predicted in your area. Hang the bean plants upside down in a dry, well-ventilated area to allow them to finish the drying process.
- 4). Crack the dried bean pods apart and allow the seeds to drop into a large bowl.
- 5). Place the bean seeds in airtight containers and store in a cool, dry place until needed for planting.
