How to Access Another Computer's Network
- 1). Launch an Internet browser on the computer network you wish to access. Then go to the "What Is My IP Address" web page (see Resources) to find out the IP address of the machine.
- 2). Start your Remote Desktop client from a remote machine. To do this, right-click on "Network." Then, click "Map Network Drive." Type in the location for the drive of the computer you desire to access remotely. For example, type in \\computer_name\c$ to obtain data from the "C" hard disk drive of the other machine. Type in the IP address from the client you desire to access. Push "Connect."
- 3). Type in your log on data. For instance, if the system you want to access requires you to type the details you use to log on, such as your pass code and username, you need to type them in before you can proceed. Then, click the "Enter" button. This enables you to access the separate computer network remotely.
