How to Hook a Two-Wire Fan to Your Computer
- 1). Turn off and unplug the computer.
- 2). Open the tower by unscrewing the screws at the back of the tower. Pull off the top casing to reveal the components.
- 3). Locate the motherboard. The motherboard is the main component in the computer. All devices will be connected to it. Normally, it is mounted vertically on the far side of the case.
- 4). Examine the power connect jack on the fan. Look for a port on the motherboard that would fit the connector on the fan. This process may take a minute. Observe where other fans are connected. Several connectors may be clustered together.
- 5). Plug the power cord to the fan into the motherboard. The two-pin connector should fit perfectly into the slot and lock into place with the attached clip.
- 6). Mount the fan where you want it to be located. The easiest place to mount the fan is at the back of the tower where there are places for screws. However, the fan can be mounted anywhere else in the tower.
- 7). Put the case back on the tower and screw it into place. Plug in the computer and turn it on. The fan should be working perfectly.
