How to Convert MIDI to MP3 in GarageBand
- 1). Click "GarageBand" in the dock on your Mac to launch the application.
- 2). Click "New Project" from the GarageBand window, and then click an option such as "Piano" or "Electric Guitar." Then click "Choose" to create a new project. A dialog box opens.
- 3). Type the name for your project in the "Save As" text box, and then click a folder on your Mac where you want to save it. Click "Create." Your project opens, with one empty track under "Tracks" in the left pane of the GarageBand window.
- 4). Drag a MIDI file from a folder on your Mac into the GarageBand window. A new track is created automatically to hold it.
- 5). Click "Share" from the GarageBand menu, and then click "Export Song to Disk." A dialog box appears.
- 6). Click the "Compress" check box to select it.
- 7). Click the "Compress Using" drop-down menu, and then click "MP3 Encoder."
- 8). Click the "Audio Settings" drop-down menu, and then click an option such as "Higher Quality" or "Good Quality." Click "Custom" if you want to use a custom quality setting for the MP3 compression. The "MP3 Encoder" dialog box appears. Click the "Bit Rate" drop-down menu, and then click an option such as "32 kbps" or "320 kbps." Click "OK" to save the changes and close the "MP3 Encoder" dialog box.

Type a name for the exported MP3 file in the "Save As" box, and then click a folder on your Mac where you want to save it. Click "Save."
