How to Stop the Stress Monster Today - Learn to Be Happy and Thankful
I was in a very long line and noticed the lady in front of me was painfully upset, and displaying extreme mental strain.
I reached out with something I'd learned and found helpful.
With a friendly smile, I talked with her for a moment, asked her a few simple questions.
"What can you do to change this situation? She replied...
"Actually, nothing.
" With that, she took a deep breathe, smiled and rested in the fact she was doing her best at that moment, it was OK just to "be there.
" Realizing her stressing wasn't going to make things better, she chose to be happy.
Often we can't change circumstances, but we can choose to take a deep breathe, smile and move forward.
In this recession prone era there are many new, grueling sources of stress and discouragement.
What can we do? We can't always control the conditions in our lives, but we can, and must, control our own attitudes.
Did you know that happiness is a choice, a learned behavior? Wow! Think of it, we can choose to be stressed or happy.
The Good Book calls it learning to be content.
Here are a couple easy ways to learn to be content, in other words, be happy: 1.

When I had to have a mastectomy, of course, I was not happy with the situation, but I believed that all things work together for good and somehow this would too.
I discovered personal "Thankfulness journals.
" Throughout my surgeries, amidst monitoring drains, the reconstruction procedures, physical therapy, essentially, all the time it took to go through this experience I wrote down, daily, everything I was thankful for.
It helped, and I came through it.
Yes, I am very Thankful to be writing to you today, and, Yes, you should create your own "Thankfulness journal," writing down all the things you are thankful for each day.
In the midst of pain and sadness it's amazing how much we still have to be thankful for.
Being thankful each day puts things in perspective and can help you to stop today's stress monster in your life.
We have a choice, to be happy or buried in the woes and stress surrounding us.
