    • 1). Draw a diagram of the belt routing so you get it back on the right way. If you have the routing diagram that's on your fan shroud, you don't need to do this. Note that some of the accessory pulleys have grooves and some are smooth. The grooved part of the belt rides in the grooved pulleys and the flat part of the belt rides on the smooth pulleys.

    • 2). Locate the power steering pump on the driver's side of the engine.

    • 3). Loosen the two bolts at the back of the pump that hold it to the mounting bracket.

    • 4). Locate the adjusting bolt at the bottom of the power steering pump. It is on the side of the pump away from the engine. Turn the bolt clockwise to loosen the belt tension until you can slide the belt off of the pump pulley. Remove the belt.

    • 5). Install the new belt by starting at the crankshaft pulley. Thread the belt onto the other pulleys. You may have to loosen the adjuster on the power steering pump some more for the new belt. Make sure the belt is seated in the grooved pulleys and is straight on the smooth ones.

    • 6). Turn the adjuster bolt on the power steering pump counterclockwise to tighten the belt. You want to tighten it until you can twist it 1/4-turn at the mid-point between the two pulleys that are farthest apart.

    • 7). Tighten the two power steering pump mounting bolts.
