    • 1). Park the ATV in a sunny, level spot to work in. The tools you need will be only a screwdriver and crescent wrench. The Modquad air filter kit comes with a new filter base and neck and filter. The clamps used to secure the filter to the mounting neck are with the kit, and all the parts inside the kit should be defect-free. Remove the parts from the box and be sure that the instructions confirm that you have all the parts.

    • 2). Remove the factory air box that connects to the intake manifold. The existing air filter will be removed as well as the filter housing, and mounting bracket that connects the air intake outlet to the filter housing. The old air box and filter should be recycled, and the fasteners retained in a cup. Place a plug over the opening to the air intake after the factory air box has been removed to avoid debris from falling into the intake and combustion chambers during the Modquad air filter kit installation.

    • 3). Clean the face of the air intake. Use brake or carburetor cleaner and a utility knife to remove any built up gasket material, dirt or oil that may have been left behind around the intake opening. The new mounting bracket for the Modquad filter kit requires that these surfaces be like new prior to installation to get the best results. Take the time to clean the junctions of all upgraded parts to get the best results from any investment in off-road performance.

    • 4). Remove the rag or plug that is covering the air intake inlet of the engine. Secure the Modquad mounting spacer onto the ATV air intake inlet. Use new or existing fasteners to create the best seal. Add silicon gel as an additive to make a thin silicon gasket in between the intake surface and the air filter spacer.

    • 5). Attach the high-flow air filter to the mounting spacer or neck. The filter is secured using the hose clamp provided with the kit. Drive the screw so the clamp tightens around the filter neck and the mounting space together. Inspect the installation for loose fasteners or obstruction. Cover the filter with a dust bag to add extra protection from dirt and flying clouds of material that help to clog factory air filters.
