How to Install a Photoelectric Sensor on an Outdoor Light
- 1). Flip the switch to turn your light off. You do not need to disconnect the service, but it helps to not burn your hand on the bulb.
- 2). Get into position so you can access where the light bulb sits. Using your screwdriver or pliers, open the housing and remove the light bulb.
- 3). Take the sensor out of its packaging and insert it into the light, screwing it in like a light bulb. Make sure that you screw it in tightly with the sensor facing out so that it can detect light.
- 4). Screw in your light bulb.
- 5). Reattach the housing for the bulb. Your bulb may not fit because the sensor takes up between 1/4 to 1/2 inch between the original socket and the base of the bulb. If you find that you cannot reassemble the housing of the lamp, you will need to purchase a bulb that is smaller in size (but not necessarily in wattage).
