We all know that in order to have a balanced diet, our food must contain all the essential nutrients our body needs such as fats, carbohydrates and protein.
A protein rich diet is important not only for those looking to build muscle, but also for those who want to lose weight.
Aside from contributing essential amino acids needed in repairing muscles, bones, skin, organs and blood, protein in food also enables wounds, cuts and abrasions to heal quickly and the blood to clot correctly.
Protein also helps build hormones, antibodies and produce enzymes which regulate the chemical reactions in the body.
A diet rich in protein has also been proven to boost the benefits of exercise, thereby making weight-loss programs more effective.
In order to understand more about a protein rich diet, it is important to first take note of which foods have protein.
Some foods rich in protein include eggs, milk, tofu, yogurt, fish, cheese, roast beef or chicken.
So how do you go about creating a diet that has a good portion of protein? Here are some ideas for your meals:

    Combine this with a glass of milk and you'll have yourself a great breakfast filled with protein.

  • For dinner - Boil some beans or eat them straight from the can.
    You can also grill some ground beef hamburgers; try to use leaner ground beef for a healthier option.
  • For snacks - Spread some peanut butter on celery sticks for young kids or eat plain or fruit yogurt.
