    • 1). Remove the new carpeting from its packaging and let it sit someplace warm for one or two hours before installing. Remove the plastic trim holding the old carpeting in place along the bottom of the door frame, using a screwdriver.

    • 2). Disconnect the car battery and all electrical connection running into the foot well area.

    • 3). Remove the seat and tracks they slide along. Use a ratchet to remove the bolts in the tracks. Some models have the bolts exposed on the underside of the car.

    • 4). Unscrew the seat belt brackets if they interfere with the carpeting.

    • 5). Pull out the old carpeting and padding and set it aside.

    • 6). Lay the old carpeting over the new one and use a piece of chalk to mark any holes, cuts and openings.

    • 7). Fold the carpeting in half with the front folded back over the back and place it in the car.

    • 8). Unfold the carpeting and center it over the transmission hump. Verify that all the chalk marks are in the correct locations.

    • 9). Remove the carpeting and make small, careful cuts into each chalk mark with a utility knife.

Apply spray adhesive to floor and place the carpeting back into the car and unfold it over the transmission hump. Use your hand to smooth the carpet down onto the adhesive.

    • 11

Trim the edges of the carpet along the opening of the door frame, from where you took the trim.

    • 12

Replace all of the car parts in the reverse order of how you took them out.

    • 13

Dispose of the old carpeting once you are sure the new carpet fits properly.
