The Power of Hypnosis Makes Quitting Smoking Easier

When hypnosis became a mainstream technique to fix bad habits, I didn't know a lot about it. I had seen the funny scenes on TV when people began clucking like chickens. I also knew many had started using self-change hypnosis, and, as it turned out, I found I preferred working with a facilitator to guide me through the process. I found it to be the best thing I ever did. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for more than 20 years, but then I quit.

I worked with a facilitator who had a great technique.

. First Session, a questionnaire to see how I responded to suggestions.

. First Week, I had to smoke two packs of cigarettes a day, completely.

. Second Week, I had to change brands and buy pure tobacco cigarettes with no filter or sugar from a tobacconist shop. It seems sugar is a big part of the addiction. I was to smoke the full pack. Then, each week I was to cut the cigarettes in half.

. Third Week, pack or 10 cigarettes or 20 half cigarettes

. Fourth Week, pack or 5 cigarettes or 10 half cigarettes

. Fifth Weekofpack 2cigarettes or 5 half cigarettes

. Sixth Week 2half cigarettes

That was 35 years ago, and I've never smoked since. It was the easiest hard thing I've ever done.

I found that hypnosis power of your mind amazes you to discover how powerful you really are. By learning hypnosis, I then learned meditation. And that's where I've concentrated. There are even more ways to get what you want, to heal relationships, to help and calm yourself.

But I thank my facilitator, Bob Trotter, for introducing me to what many might think is a bit goofy solution. While hypnosis now is mainstream because society has found that it works. That's why it's accepted. But that wasn't the case when I first tried it. And, now meditation has only recently made it onto the evening news as a way to heal. This recognition will lead meditation to a mainstream position in society soon.

Bob didn't accept money for his work. The only thing that Bob asked as "payment" for his help was a gift. I remember wrangling over what that would be. I don't remember what I gave him, but I truly remember all that he gave me. I suggested his help to other friends who, as a result, have lived their lives without cigarettes too. That's my gift to them.
