How to Remove Bar Codes From Tires
- 1). Lay your tire down so the bar code is visible and easily accessible. Some dealers put the bar code tag on the tread of the tire, and others put it on the side wall of the tire.
- 2). Direct the hot air from the dryer onto the bar code sticker. The hot air should cause the adhesive on the sticker to melt slightly, making the sticker easier to remove. Since rubber has a much higher melting point, this heat won't damage the tire.
- 3). Gently scrape the bar code sticker off the tire with a putty knife or another type of scraper. Begin scraping slowly. If the adhesive on the sticker is still holding, then heat it longer and try again.
