    • Transmission Technologies Corporation and the Dana Corporation acquired Tremec in 1997. Tremec is a company that is famous for its transmissions. One of the durable transmissions is the TKO 600. It is a transmission that was used in Ford trucks. Vehicles that used them were 1966 and 1985 Ford Mustangs, GMC 1967 to 1969 and 1991 Chevy pick-up trucks, 1964 and 1966 Impalas and more.

    Torque

    • The torque of the Tremec TKO 600 is rated at 600 ft.-lb. According to Engineers Edge, an engine is rated by torque. Torque rating refers to "the maximum allowable continuous torque a motor can handle without exceeding the motor temperature limits."

    Spline

    • The TKO 600 has 26 spline shaft for an input shaft and a 31 spline shaft for an output shaft.

    Drive Configurations

    • The Tremec TKO 600 has two drive configurations: A first gear that is 2.87 and .82od and a second gear is 2.87 and .64od. When shifting, the standard shift position is at the rear point of the gear. According to Bajarang Engineer Works, gear ratios are determined by "how many turns of the input shaft cause one revolution of the output shaft." In other words, 2.87 means that the input shaft must turn two times before the output shaft turns .87 times. And .82od refers to the outside diameter.
