    • 1). Loosen, but do not remove the lug nuts of the wheel you intend to replace the ABS sensor on.

    • 2). Jack up the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on the ABS sensor you are replacing. Secure the vehicle with jack stands.

    • 3). Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel from the vehicle.

    • 4). Look on the rear of the brake rotor. The rotor is the large metal disk at the center of the braking system. Locate the where the hub connects to the rotor; this will be at the direct center of the hub.

    • 5). Look on the hub for an electrical wire running into it. There will be only one wire and that wire connects to the ABS sensor.

    • 6). Trace that wire toward the brake system until you reach the electrical component that it powers. That component is the ABS sensor.

    • 7). Loosen and remove the one or two bolts that secure the sensor to the hub, using a ratchet and socket.

    • 8). Pull the sensor from the hub.

    • 9). Trace the wire upward and toward the vehicle until you reach the wiring harness. Press the locking button on this harness and unplug the ABS sensor wire.

Place the new ABS sensor in the hub, lining up the bolt holes, and tighten the bolts, using a ratchet and socket.

    • 11

Plug the ABS sensor wire into the connector leading to the vehicle by pressing it in until a clicking sound is heard.

    • 12

Place the wheel back on the vehicle and hand-tighten the lug nuts.

    • 13

Lower the vehicle to the ground and torque the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications with the torque wrench and a socket. The specifications are listed in the repair manual.
