How to Make a Fishtail Braid to the Neck
- 1). Brush the entire head thoroughly and divide the bottom into two equal sections, sides A and B. Hold each section in one hand.
- 2). Begin at the nape of the neck and bring a 1-inch piece of hair, part 1, from under side A and hold it in the middle between sides A and B.
- 3). Bring an equally sized piece of hair, part 2, from under side B and overlap it in the middle of sides A and B, creating an X with part 1.
- 4). Pull parts 1 and 2 snug with your pointer and thumb while using the remainder of your fingers to secure sides A and B. Push the X upward for a tighter braid.
- 5). Repeat steps two through five and continue including strand additions of equal size for a tidy-looking braid. The first several pleats will rest against your scalp, just above the nape of the neck.
- 6). Continue braiding until you reach the bottom or middle of your neck and have at least a few inches of hair remaining. Wrap a non-rubber elastic hair tie tightly around the bottom of the braid.
