How to Remove a Mass Air Flow Sensor
- 1). Locate the air intake and air box. This is called the air cleaner assembly and will typically be located on the passenger side of the engine bay near the front of the vehicle. The intake is a large tube running from the throttle to the front of the engine where there is a small box holding the air cleaner filter.
- 2). Remove the air box cover and pull the air filter out. Your vehicle may have two retaining clips that you need to lift up on to remove the air cleaner box cover, or it may have several screws that you have to remove to remove the cover of the air cleaner box.
- 3). Loosen the hose clamps on the intake tube with a screwdriver and remove the air intake tube from the air box.
- 4). Unplug the electrical plug running to the mass air flow sensor and remove the mass air flow sensor from the air tube assembly.
