How to Disable Group Policy in XP
- 1). Click "Start," then click "Restart" from the Windows XP's main menu.
- 2). Press the "F8" key once the screen goes blank for the first time. The "Windows Advanced Options Menu" should appear. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select "Safe Mode" and press "Enter."
- 3). Click "Start," "Run" then type "Regedit" and press "Enter."
- 4). Double-click "Computer" then double-click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," then "Software."
- 5). Double-click "Policies," "Microsoft" then "Windows."
- 6). Click "System" then "Edit." Select "New" then click "DWORD (32-bit) Value." Replace the "DWORD" key with "DisableGPO."
- 7). Double-click "DisableGPO" and type "1" in the "Value" field. Click "OK." Reboot the computer once you are done.
