How to Unstick a Pool Vacuum Hose Stuck in the Skimmer

    Pull The Vacuum Hose

    • 1). Pull the skimmer out of the pool. Lay the skimmer on the deck and put on work gloves.

    • 2). Press in on the release button at the the base of the skimmer's pole where it meets the pool vacuum hose with one hand.

    • 3). Grip the connector at the end of the hose where it meets the skimmer with the other hand.

    • 4). Twist the hand holding the hose counter-clockwise to unstick it from the skimmer.

    • 5). Pull the hose off. Release the skimmer's release button.

    Lubricate the Vacuum Hose

    • 1). Place the skimmer on the pool's deck. Wipe around the base of the skimmer's pole where it meets the pool vacuum hose with a paper towel to remove loose dirt and effluents.

    • 2). Insert one end of the included plastic straw into the nozzle of the lubricating spray can. Shake the can for five seconds.

    • 3). Spray a burst of lubrication around the base of the skimmer's pole where it meets the hose.

    • 4). Twist the hose counter-clockwise while twisting the base of the skimmer's pole clockwise.

    • 5). Pull the hose away from the skimmer while twisting until it comes off.

    Loosen The Vacuum Hose

    • 1). Turn the pool vacuum on. Place the skimmer into the pool so that the end of the hose is in the water.

    • 2). Grip the connector on the hose that is attached to the skimmer with one hand. Grip the end of the skimmer pole where it meets the hose with the other.

    • 3). Twist the connector on the hose back and forth firmly to loosen it from the skimmer.

    • 4). Continue to twist the connector until you feel the hose coming loose.

    • 5). Pull the skimmer out of the water and turn the pool vacuum off before pulling the hose off the skimmer.
