How to Connect a Brother Printer Through a Router
- 1). Plug in the printer and turn it on. Connect the printer to the router using the network Ethernet port.
- 2). Install the Brother software CD that came with the printer, which includes the printer driver and other setup and utility software.
- 3). Use the BRAdmin Professional Utility to set up the IP address and subnet mask: "Start," "Programs," "Brother Administrator Utilities," "Brother BRAdmin Professional Utilities," "BRAdmin Professional."
- 4). Select TCP/IP and "Search Active Devices" from the "Devices" menu. Double-click on "Unconfigured Device" and enter the IP address, subnet mask and gateway. Click "OK."
- 5). Add the configured network printer under "Control Panel," "Printers" and print a test page to check that setup is complete.
