Memory and Anxiety

If you suffer from anxiety and have an attack, your memory might abandon you.
You might ask yourself: What did I want to do next? What was the name of that person? Where do I have to go? Which bus do I have to take? and many other questions you cannot answer in that specific moment.
Even if there is no anxiety attack, it is possible that your memory is not always giving you what you are asking for.
You can get simple helps.
Whatever you want to know and not forget, link it to something physical in your home or your office.
When you walk through your home, take one physical object and say aloud: I have to go to the post office and purchase 10 stamps.
You say that while you are looking at your wardrobe.
Then you say to your fridge: I have to buy some meat (or whatever you have to buy).
Say to your table: I need to go to the grocery store and buy my vegetables.
Whatever you want to do or buy you can link it to some piece of furniture.
Then, before you leave your house to go to work or to shop, repeat your sentences and go through your house, touch each piece of furniture and repeat what you want to link to it This method really works.
Try it on everything you want to remember and you can easily recall it when needed.
Another trick is by linking your tasks to a number.
You can do this by using phone numbers or street numbers or even birthday dates of your loved ones.
And while you are doing this, your anxiety diminishes and, as your mind is busy with remembering useful things, it can no longer give in to anxiety.
It is a simple trick to shut out your anxiety and to recall your tasks.
You can use these methods for recalling and remembering whatever you needto not forget.
Some peopleuse even more complicated calculations to link them to tasks.
For example eight per eight is sixty-four and it means that I have to buy a loaf of bread.
You can use your fantasy and will come up with many other combinations that help you improve your memory just in the moments when your mind seems to shut down.
Some people link the things they should not forget with fruits or plants, trees.
You name it.
It is just the fantasy that comes to help you out.
Let it help you when you most need it!
