    • 1). Restart Windows Explorer. If the laptop's indicator lights are on but the screen is dark, the computer is running; the problem may be with Windows Explorer, which you must close and re-start. Press "Ctrl"+"Alt+"Delete" to start Task Manager. Under the "Processes" tab, highlight Explorer.exe, right click, then select "End Process." Click "Yes" when the pop-up window asks if you really want to do this. To restart Explorer, click on "File" and then "New Task (Run...)." Type "explorer.exe" into the dialog box and click "OK."

    • 2). Check that the battery is charged enough to run the computer. Plug in the AC power adaptor to recharge it, or install a charged battery pack. Wipe the new battery terminals with a clean cloth before installation.

    • 3). Check that the cords properly connect the computer to the power converter and the power converter to an electrical outlet. The AC power indicator light should glow white. If this does not occur, check the electrical outlet by plugging in another item, such as a lamp. If the outlet is live, try starting the computer again, holding the on/off button down for ten seconds. Wait 10 seconds, then press the power switch to turn it on.
