How to Repair Radiator Leakage

    • 1). Look at the radiator as a whole. Check the unit itself for rust or corrosion. If you find it, cancel any plans to try to fix the problem yourself. Call a mechanic right away.

    • 2). Examine the radiator hoses. Determine which one is springing the leak. Look for signs of wetness or cracking. Remove the faulty hoses by twisting and pulling at the ends.

    • 3). Check the radiator itself. If the unit as a whole is responsible for the leak, then drain the radiator. Taking a rag and some soapy water, thoroughly clean the area around the leak. Dry the area around the leak, then apply epoxy glue.

    • 4). Inspect your radiator tubes. If the tubes happen to be the culprit, you can dig the cooling fins away from the tubing, using wire pliers. Cut the ends of the tubing; wrap these ends upon themselves. Tightly crimping the ends, apply the epoxy glue.
