      Art colleges are found throughout the United States. American art colleges offer programs of study in both the traditional studio arts and in cutting-edge digital art and new media. Students work towards Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in these disciplines, developing their artistic vision while honing technical skills. Some art colleges also offer an art education track, preparing individuals for a career in teaching.

    • The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) strives to provide a top quality education in visual arts, media and design. The curriculum stresses a broad-based program of study in the liberal arts and sciences. Degrees are offered in a range of studio and academic disciplines. Along with the traditional studio arts, students work toward degrees in areas such as art history, art therapy and architecture.

    California College of the Arts

    • California College of the Arts (CCA) is noted for the range and breadth of program offerings, with 20 undergraduate and seven graduate areas of study available. CCA's role is to educate students to shape and create culture via the practice of art. Students work toward degrees in disciplines from fine arts and fashion design to architecture. More than 1,700 full-time students attend CCA. The school has two San Francisco Bay Area campuses, in Oakland and San Francisco.

    Massachusetts College of Art and Design

    • The Massachusetts College of Art and Design was America's first independent college of art and design, seeking to teach students the creative process to enhance well-being. Programs of study are available in art, design, education and architecture. Undergraduate programs include fine art disciplines such as painting, along with more commercial areas of study such as illustration and animation. Graduate programs and certificate programs of study are also offered.

    • The School of Visual Arts (SVA), located in New York City, offers students the opportunity to study toward a bachelor's or graduate-level degree in the art capital of the world. The continuing education department offers courses aimed at meeting the needs of New York's professional creative community.
