How to Troubleshoot a Kenmore Washer Elite HE3
- 1). Look for the word "SUDS" on your washing machine's display. If your cycle takes too long or you find this word on the display, you have used the wrong detergent. Purchase an "HE" detergent before doing more laundry in the machine.
- 2). Straighten out your water inlet hoses. If you notice any kinks, this might cut off or reduce your water supply. Turn off your water supply to the washer and disconnect the hoses to check for any clogging on the washer's screens that sit underneath the inlet ports. If you had the water supply turned off, turn it on after connecting the hoses properly.
- 3). Check your drain hose. Do not allow the hose to pass more than 96 inches above the floor. Straighten it out as much as you can. A kinked hose leads to serious drainage problems. Remove the hose from the back of the washing machine using a Phillips head screwdriver and empty it out in a bucket before checking for clogs with a pipe cleaner.
- 4). Check the display for "F" followed by a number from 4 to 16. These errors indicate electrical issues. Sometimes, these issues happen because of a small interruption in the electrical supply or an excessive amount of water in the washing machine reservoir. Turn your washing machine off and turn it on again. If this doesn't work, press the "PAUSE/CANCEL" button twice to stop the cycle and select "Drain + Spin." Press "Start" to begin the process, freeing the machine of any excess water.
- 5). Level your washer if it makes strange noises. Take a spirit level and put it on top of the washer's surface. Grab a 3/8-inch wrench and turn it clockwise to raise the washer and counterclockwise to lower it on any particular leg. You first must loosen the nut on the top of the leg and adjust the nut on the base of the leg to move it up or down. Tighten this nut again once your leveling tool shows that all of its bubbles are in the middle of their tubes.
