• Belmont Shore is a region of Long Beach, Calif., designed for shoppers, sailors, beach bums, and joggers. A walking/jogging path can be found along the shore and down the popular Belmont Memorial Pier. The beach hosts volleyball courts, a boat launch ramp and even has a section used as a dog friendly beach. La Parolaccia

• La Parolaccia is located just a mile from the Belmont Pier. The name represents the laid back atmosphere where diners can enjoy homemade food, wine, and "bad language," as that is what the name means in Italian. Moderately priced, the restaurant offers all the standards you would think of with Italian food such as spaghetti bolognese, ravioli, pizza, and lasagna. The chef also makes things such as seafood risotto and gnocchi in a creamy saffron sauce. With no posted closing time, La Parolaccia is open Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. On Sunday the eatery opens for lunch at 1 p.m. and stays open through dinner.
  
  

Michael's

• Michael's is a high-end Italian restaurant located in Naples Plaza just across the bridge from Belmont Shore. The restaurant features a 50 percent off happy hour every day and special prices during the week on wine. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday feature live music on the rooftop patio where you can see over the harbor. The food is more expensive Italian fair including lobster spaghetti and pan=seared prosciutto-wrapped scallops. Part of the Dine LA program, the restaurant also offers prix fixe menus on certain dates where you can enjoy a limited menu with multiple courses with wine pairings.
  
  

Papalucci

• Papalucci is located in the heart of Belmont Shores. Moderately priced, Papalucci's is a family-friendly restaurant and has been in the area for many years. The menu includes seafood items, standard Italian fair such as calzones, and a well-reviewed carbonara. Carbonara is a cream-based sauce mixed with tomato sauce and pan-seared bacon. The tomato sauce is made from scratch and the recipe continues to be a secret. You can choose your favorite type of pasta to go with your favorite sauce. The restaurant is not very large, so on busy weekends you can find yourself waiting for a table.
