How to Reconnect a Mapdrive on a Workstation
- 1). Open the Start menu and click "Computer." If this screen already displays a shortcut to the mapped network drive, right-click the shortcut and select "Disconnect."
- 2). Select the "Map Network Drive" command at the top of the window.
- 3). Click the drop-down menu next to the word "Drive" and select the drive letter that Windows should assign to the mapped drive. The default drive letter for a new mapped drive is "Z:."
- 4). Type the full network path to the shared drive in the "Folder" field. Alternatively, click the "Browse" button to browse the shared resources on your network and locate the drive.
- 5). Place a check in the "Reconnect at logon" box.
- 6). Place a check in the "Connect using different credentials" box if you connect to the shared network drive using a different user name and password than what you use when logging in to Windows. You will be prompted for this information the first time you connect to the mapped drive.
- 7). Click the "Finish" button to save the shortcut on the "Computer" window.
