1956 Chevy Chrome Installation
- 1). Clean the area of the car where the chrome will be installed. Soak a rag with adhesive remover and wipe the immediate area where the chrome will be installed. Use a putty knife to remove any remaining adhesive.
- 2). Clean the back of the chrome in the same manner.
- 3). Set the trim on the car where it will be installed to verify the length and fit. Mark the location with a grease pencil at both ends and in the middle.
- 4). Apply good-quality, double-stick trim tape to the car. Two strips may be used if the trim is wide enough. Press down on the tape to provide a good hold.
- 5). Expose the sticky surface of the tape by peeling the film off the front of the tape. From this point forward keep this surface clean and free of any dirt or debris.
- 6). Position the trim piece on the tape at one end. If the piece is long, have someone hold it roughly in position. Press it firmly in place at the end and keep the pressure on for 15 seconds. Work your way along the length of the piece, pressing and holding, pressing and holding.
- 7). Press a clean, dry rag against the trim, working the entire length several times to ensure adhesion.
- 8). Cut away any tape that may be exposed (use a razor blade without scratching the car). Repeat these steps as required on other pieces.
- 1). Clean the area where the part will be installed very thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease or grime.
- 2). Position the new piece in the location where it will go. Often parts attached with screws are along flanges, such as on a fender.
- 3). Drill holes the correct diameter through pre-marked hole locations on the trim (if necessary, consult a drill and screw size chart).
- 4). Place screws in each of the holes and tighten the screws.
- 5). Clean the trim and the car area with a clean, dry rag. Repeat as required in other areas.
- 1). Clean the area where the part will be installed very thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease or grime.
- 2). Hold the trim in place. Slip the straight end of the clip through the slot in the trim. The straight end will be pointed out toward you. The other end of the clip will be behind the flange. Snap the clip onto the flange with your fingers.
- 3). Pull on the straight end of the clip to secure it to the flange.
- 4). Bend the straight end of the clip back 180 degrees to provide a snug fit between the clip and the trim and hide the clip as much as possible.
- 5). Repeat on all slots of the piece and repeat on other pieces.
