How Are Key Rings Made?
- The key ring is typically made with metal wire that is shaped into two loops. While key rings are often shaped from metal substances, they are also made with leather, plastic, wood, rubber and other materials. With any substance used, the key ring must be shaped into a loop to hold keys or other objects. Also, some key rings are made solely of a solid loop that has a mechanism to enable it to open and shut keys onto the ring.

The typical key ring double loop allows a key to be placed on one end of the wire and fitted around the loop until it fits securely onto the key ring. This essential function allows for many keys and other objects to be held securely on the key ring at the same time. - Key chains can be significant in a person's life.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Many people use their key rings to hold small plastic identification cards, key fobs, and decorative items as a way to identify their key ring from others.
