Hi, I'm Sharon McCormick owner of Sharon McCormick Design. The topic of this video is how to decorate the top of an entertainment center. As you can see this is a very large entertainment center. There's no denying that the TV is the focal point here. When I decorate an entertainment center I like to do the accessories in neutral colors. That way when the TV is on we're not distracted by the accessories. In this case I chose to use brown with silver accents. In decorating the to of an entertainment center I like to create a horizontal wave of accessories. It keeps the eye moving. One thing to be careful of is using too over scaled of accessories. We don't want the entertainment center to look top heavy. What I've done with the top of the entertainment center is created a horizontal wave with the accessories starting high on the ends. Coming down and returning to a tall accessory on the other end. This keeps the eye moving. In decorating the very top of the bookcase I replicated the same materials that I used in the alcoves of the entertainment center. On the left side I used two vases rather then one so that's a little bit of depth. One is in front of the other. Plus I didn't want to just do one accessory above each alcove. As you can see I started with the wave of the tall vases. Came down with the accessories in the center and went back up on the right hand side.
