How to Make Makeup Palettes
- 1). Clean out with a soft cloth the inside of an empty DVD case or hard shirt box. This will be the holder for your makeup palette and will house the makeup you choose for your kit.
- 2). Pick the colors for your palette. Match colors so that all coordinate and highlight one another. Choose eye shadows that sit in individual pots or those in metal holders inside of manufacturer packaging. You can test to see if the shadow is inside a metal base by gently prying away a slight amount of shadow with a toothpick on the edge of the shadow to see if a metal base exists.
- 3). Pull eyeshadow and blush out of original packaging by using a toothpick to loosen the base of the makeup and remove with a pair of tweezers. Set all makeup on a white paper towel once removed from the case.
- 4). Find a metal container, such as one holding eyeshadow or blush that you do not use, to put lipstick in. Remove the base from the packaging and scoop out all contents using cotton swabs, toothpicks and tissues. Clean the inside of the metal holder by using rubbing alcohol. Allow to thoroughly dry. Break off lipstick and press into the metal base to create lipstick containers for your makeup palette. Place filled containers on the towel with the other makeup.
- 5). Determine what eye shadows, lipstick and blush will be placed in the palette. Test the size of your container by placing all metal pots and bases inside the holder. Make sure you know what fits where before proceeding.
- 6). Glue a small magnet to the underside of each pot and container of makeup. Use the polar side of the magnet and glue to the corresponding location in the palette. Use glue suitable for either hard cardboard or plastic, depending on whether you chose a DVD case for the palette to create a small kit or a hard shirt box for a larger palette. Place the makeup in the palette by lining up the magnets. You can use tissue paper to fill in gaps to create a unique look and help prevent things from shifting around.
