How to Hide a Train Table Under a Bed
- 1). Disconnect track sections if the track system spans two separate mounting boards, only disconnecting the sections that bridge the seam of the two boards.
- 2). Remove the plywood or drywall train-track surface from its resting table. Typically, the train tracks are mounted on 4x8 foot panels. An average model train set consists of two sheets positioned side-by-side.
- 3). Drop a 4x8 foot piece of plastic onto the floor next to the bed and position one of the train track panels onto the plastic. The plastic functions as a smooth surface, permitting the panel to be slid under the bed with minimum resistance from carpet or to prevent scratching a wooden floor.
- 4). Place four 6-inch sections of 4x4 lumber, one piece on each corner, onto the first wooden track panel.
- 5). Carefully place the second track panel onto the 4x4 risers. If the height of the bed permits an additional track panel to be stored, repeat steps four and five.
- 6). Have a partner assist in sliding the set under the bed. Push against the edge of the bottom board on both ends, slowly, positioning the entire set under the bed as desired. The 4x4 risers have adequate surface area to prevent slippage of the top boards as long as you move the bottom board slowly and cautiously.
