Defeating a Panic Attack

This article looks at defeating a panic attack.
Panic attacks are becoming more and more prevalent in the modern world, as we tend to become embroiled in what we perceive to be ever more stressful situations, so we must learn how to cope with our hectic lifestyles.
Panic attacks are brought on by becoming stressed in certain social situations, and the longer we let this go on the worse the attacks become until you can barely function properly.
But we are only panicking because our brain is telling us to, not because we are at any sort of risk.
It is the old fight or flight concept where we become conditioned to want to flight in certain social situations.
We need to tell ourselves that this is nonsense! We are not in any danger, we have just got into the wrong frame of mind and our subconscious is playing tricks on us.
So we need to take control of the situation and put confident, positive thoughts and feelings into our subconscious, and throw the old rubbish that is festering in your mind into the trash.
This does not happen overnight, but you do need to make a start straight away and follow the process through to its conclusion.
If you can defeat your panic attacks it will be well worth the effort.
You need to sit down and put yourself in situations that you have previously had panic attacks in, and you need to rerun these scenarios in your mind, but see them as having a positive outcome.
Imagine you being in total control in these scenarios, working the room, making people laugh and putting them at ease, being the life and soul of the party.
Any negative thoughts that creep into your mind must be pushed away swiftly, be firm and do not allow them to poison your new positive self.
You need to practice this a few times a day for a week or two before you actually put yourself back into what you would previously considered as a stressful scenario.
You will find that you will be able to cope far better, and the more you practice this the better you will be until all the old bad habits will have been eradicated and you will have finally defeated your panic attacks.
