How to Mount a Magellan 1440 GPS to a Dashboard Using a Windshield Mount
- 1). Clean a flat and smooth section of the dashboard with an alcohol pad. This will be the spot where you mount your Magellan.
- 2). Take the tape off the back of the adhesive disk that came with the Magellan mounting kit.
- 3). Press the adhesive disk onto the prepared spot on your dashboard and continue pressing. The sticky side goes onto the dashboard. Keep pressure on the adhesive disk for five minutes to ensure proper bonding.
- 4). Cure the adhesive disk for 24 hours by leaving it alone. Do not touch it or mount the unit to it during that time.
- 5). Push the lever that is located at the bottom of the mounting cradle's base up.
- 6). Set the cradle's base onto the adhesive disk. It should be centered on the disk.
- 7). Push the lever located at the cradle's base down all the way. You will hear a click when it snaps into place.
- 8). Let go of the Magellan cradle slowly to determine if it is properly attached.
- 9). Line up the slot on the RoadMate GPS unit with the tab on the cradle and slide it into the cradle. When you have gently pushed it all the way down to rest on the bottom of the cradle you will hear a soft click. Your Magellan 1440 is now mounted on your dashboard.
