How to Conceal a Washer & Dryer in the Kitchen
- 1). Assess the position of your washer and dryer hookups, including the hot and cold water, the dryer vent and the 220 volt outlet in your kitchen.
- 2). Decide whether you will use a standard top loading washer, a front loader, a stackable washer and dryer unit or an all-in-one washer and dryer in your kitchen. Consider your budget, available space and whether you rent or own your home.
- 3). Choose an all-in-one unit tucked under a countertop if you have a small kitchen but the budget to allow for the appliance purchase. Select high-end appliances with integrated cabinet fronts if cost is no object. Remodel your kitchen cabinetry to include custom cabinet fronts with pocket doors for your laundry area.
- 4). Turn your washer and dryer into usable counter space. Install a simple counter over the top of the washer and dryer in the kitchen if you have a front loader. Have butcher block cutting boards cut to fit the top of your washer and dryer if you have a top loader.
- 5). Use Velcro to secure a gathered, pleated or straight skirt onto your washer and dryer. Opt for a fabric that matches the style and color scheme in your kitchen. Be sure that your fabric skirt includes separate panels for the washer and dryer for ease of use.
