How to Convert to Gas Dryers
- 1). Pull the power cord out of the outlet if it is plugged in. Turn off the gas supply if it is connected to the dryer. Disconnect the gas line from the dryer if there is a connection, using an adjustable wrench. Insert a putty knife into the seam between the dryer top and the front panel and release the retaining clips.
- 2). Lift the top toward the back of the appliance. Reach into the dryer and remove the front panel retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the panel away from the dryer frame. Remove the retaining screws from the burner assembly at the bottom of the dryer using a Phillips screwdriver.
- 3). Remove the burner from the dryer and take off the orifice using an adjustable wrench. Remove the leak limiter using the adjustable wrench. Install the new leak limiter and tighten it hand-tight. Install the new burner orifice and tighten it using an adjustable wrench. Do not over-tighten the orifice or you will damage the threads.
- 4). Install the burner assembly into the dryer and tighten the retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Place the front panel on the dryer and install the retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Lower the lid on the dryer and push firmly on the corners to lock the retaining clips.
- 5). Connect the gas line to the dryer and tighten the fitting with the adjustable wrench. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet. Turn the gas supply valve on and push the dryer into place against the wall. Turn on the dryer to test the new burner assembly.
