How to Paint Bathroom Tubs
- 1). Clean the the surface of the tub with rubbing alcohol or acetone. Rinse away the alcohol after you've finished cleaning, and let the tub dry completely.
- 2). Sand the tub with a palm sander. This will help the paint stick to the tub better.
- 3). Wrap the faucet and other fixtures you do not wish to get paint on in painter's tape.
- 4). Use a foam roller to apply two coats of latex primer. Refer to the instructions on the can for drying time. It typically takes 24 hours.
- 5). Apply two coats of EP-acrylic paint with a foam roller. Use a satin or semi-gloss finish. Refer to the instructions on the can for drying time. Wait at least 30 minutes between each application so the paint has enough time to dry. Allow 24 to 48 hours to cure before using the bathtub.
