How to Make Tie-Dyed Easter Eggs
If you are looking for a unique way to color your Easter eggs this year, try your hand at tie-dying them.
- Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Rubber Bands
- Food Coloring
- Vinegar
- Water
Instructions:
Pour a 1/2 cup of room temperature water into a coffee cup. Add about a tablespoon of vinegar and then start adding the food coloring. On average, I use about 20 drops of food coloring. Use more or less depending on the color you want. Stir it well. Repeat this for every color you want to make.
To prepare the eggs for dying, wrap rubber bands around them. Use as few or as many as you like. Experiment with different patterns.
Using a spoon, carefully lower an egg into a cup. Add only one egg to a cup at a time. The longer you leave the eggs in the dye, the darker the colors will be. Once the egg reaches the desired color, remove from the cup with a spoon and let dry on a paper towel. Once dry, remove the rubber bands.
