How to Change a Fuel Filter on a Honda Civic 2000 Ex
- 1). Turn your engine off and remove the gas cap. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- 2). Locate the fuel filter on your Civic. The Civic's fuel filter is on the passenger side of the engine bay against the firewall.
- 3). Place a heavy-duty shop towel over the fuel filter and the service bolt. Use a 6-mm socket wrench to loosen the service bolt (on top of the fuel filter) with the towel between the filter and wrench. The towel will prevent fuel from spraying on you as you relieve the system fuel pressure.
- 4). Remove the banjo bolt from the fuel line and loosen the clamp mounting the fuel filter. Remove the old filter and discard it.
- 5). Mount the new fuel filter with the clamp and tighten the service bolt. Tighten the fuel fuel banjo bolt to 25 ft.-lbs. of torque.
