The Five Elements of Balance As mentioned in a previous article, there are five elements that you should be aware of that will help you to achieve balance in your life.
Those elements include your well-being, spiritual being, intellectual being, physical and emotional being, and financial well being.
In this article let's delve a little deeper into each aspect to help you get started with achieving balance.
  • Well-Being:Well-being refers to your overall sense of self and making the decisions that are best for you instead of what everyone else expects.
To assess your well-being pay careful attention to how you feel inside.
Do you feel happy?Do you feel stressed? Is there something in need of a change?Do you feel empty? Are you doing what you set out to do with your life?Take some time and write down your observations.
  • Spiritual Being:Your spiritual being consists of your beliefs and values.
Are the activities in your life in line with your beliefs? Are you engaging in things that feed your spirit? Are you allowing yourself time for spiritual growth? Take inventory in this category and then write it down.
  • Intellectual Being:Intellectual growth is an important part of your overall being.
Is you career feeding your intellect? Are you engaged in activities that stimulate your mind?Do you have hobbies that advance your intellect?Record this information so you can go back and do an assessment.
  • Physical and Emotional Being:Do you make the time to take care of your physical health by exercising and eating right?Does your current lifestyle fulfill you emotionally?Do you have friends that support you?Does your family support you emotionally?Assess this area as well and record your observations under this category.
  • Financial Well-Being:Are you in good financial shape? Are there areas that need improvement?Do you have financial goals that you are trying to achieve?Does your significant other share the same views on finances as you do?Ask yourself some specific questions here and add a few if necessary and then write down your answers.
Once you are finished with the assessment place everything in front of you where you can see it and place it in chart form if this will help you.
You should begin to see a pattern as well as clearly identify the areas where your life is out of balance.
This should help you to see the starting point for balancing out your life so you can begin to achieve the success you envision.
