How to Donate Supplies to Local Teachers
- 1). Contact your local school district and ask about school supply donations. The school district will either give you general information or will direct you to a specific teacher. Do as asked and donate the supplies requested.
- 2). Ask your child's teacher which school supplies he or she needs in the classroom. Ask him or her to order the supplies by importance and buy the most important or urgently needed supplies first.
- 3). Go to a local office supply store and ask if they are having a school supply drive. Many local and national office supply stores have such drives, and specific teachers make requests that are then fulfilled.
- 4). Bring the supplies to the school--or even the classroom--directly, if possible. This makes it much easier on the teacher and you get a sense of how the school supplies will be used in the classroom setting. Go during a time when classes are not in session, though, so that you don't disturb instructional time with students.
- 5). Call the school district throughout the year to ask about new needs that may crop up. Donate accordingly.
