DIY Make a Rod Wrapping Rig
- 1). Measure a 2-by-4 board to 15 1/2 inches with the tape measure. Cut five pieces to this length using the circular saw.
- 2). Measure down 2 inches from one end of a cut piece of 2-by-4 and make a mark with the pencil. Drill a 1-inch hole through the 2-by-4 boards with the power drill. Repeat this step with a second cut 2-by-4.
- 3). Place the two drilled pieces parallel to each other on the ground. Set a third cut 2-by-4 along the bottom edge of the two boards.
- 4). Drill pilot holes into the end where two boards meet. Secure the boards together with screws. Place the frame for the rig upright.
- 5). Position the remaining two 2-by-4 boards at the bottom on each side of the rig. Drill pilot holes into the side of the wood. Secure the 2-by-4 boards to the rig for the legs.
- 6). Drill a 1/4-inch hole 1 1/2 inches from one end of the dowel. Insert the dowel into the holes drilled into the top of the rig.
- 7). Insert the metal rod into the hole that you drilled into the end of the wood dowel. Tie the end of a rope onto the dowel. Turn the metal rod to wrap the rope around the dowel.
