How to Make Your Shirt Tighter
- 1). Turn the shirt inside-out. Put on the t-shirt and gather the excess fabric along the side seams, all the way from the bottom of the shirt to under the arms. Be sure to grab equal amounts along the left and right seams. Pin the excess fabric in place and carefully remove the shirt.
- 2). Leave the shirt inside-out and place it on a flat surface.
- 3). Use a seam ripper to open the bottom hemline on either side of the left and right side seams. Use the seam ripper to open the seams all the way up the sides of the shirt.
- 4). Sew the new seam down the sides of the shirt using a straight stitch by hand or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine. Begin sewing underneath the arm and work down to the bottom hemline. Sew the seam just on the outside of the pins.
- 5). Fold over the hemline that was ripped open on either side of the side seams and sew it back in place.
- 6). Cut off the excess fabric, leaving ¼-inch of fabric beyond the new seam line. Fold over the ¼-inch of fabric and use an iron to smooth the fabric in place.
