How to Fit a Household Light
- 1). Remove the lamp shade or other cover for the light.
- 2). Position the light bulb over the cap or base of the lamp. This is the part of the light fixture which connects with the light bulb and creates the electrical conduction.
- 3). Insert the cap of the light bulb in the light fitting and position it into place. Two standard types of bulbs are typically used in household lights: those with a bayonet cap and those with an Edison screw cap. For a light bulb with a bayonet cap, which features a smooth base with two locating lugs, use a push- and-twist movement to secure it in place. For a light bulb with an Edison screw cap, featuring a threaded base, use a clockwise or right-hand direction to twist it in place.
