How to Replace a Headlight Bulb in an Oldsmobile Alero
- 1). Shut off your Alero's engine and turn the headlamp switch to "OFF." Open the hood using the primary and auxiliary hood release latches.
- 2). Lift the headlight assembly up and forward to disengage its mounting brackets. Gently rest the assembly on the front bumper before proceeding.
- 3). Remove the rubber cap covering the bulb socket and set in on the ground next to the car.
- 4). Twist the bulb socket retainer one-sixth of a turn counterclockwise and pull the socket out.
- 5). Unclip the bulb socket from the wiring harness.
- 6). Extract the old bulb from the socket and replace it with the new bulb. Then, repeat Steps 3 through 5 in reverse to reassemble the headlight assembly.
- 7). Slide the assembly back into place, start the engine and test the new bulb to make sure it works before closing the hood.
