YOU Dumped HIM? Now, You Want Him Back?

It is difficult enough to get back an ex if you've been dumped. But, imagine how difficult it must be if you were the one who did the dumping. That is the position Jan found herself in when she had to go about getting back her ex.

Jan's so called friend Amber told her that her boyfriend Dan had been sleeping with another woman. Without any verification and with much emotion, Jan confronted Dan and accused him of having an affair. This took Dan completely by surprise because he had no idea the source of the charge. He did a poor job of defending himself and Jan immediately dumped him.

A few days later, Jan learned that Amber had been lying for her own jealous and petty reasons. Now Jan was in a real mess. She wanted to get her ex back but also wanted to save face.

Jan called Dan and tried to explain what had happened. Dan was in no mood to take her back after she displayed such a lack of trust and not even letting them talk about it.

Getting an ex back would now take everything she could muster.

Jan wrote Dan a long letter of apology, taking responsibility for what had happened and swearing that it would never happen again. She reminded Dan of the many wonderful times they had experienced together and that she did not want to throw it all away. She told him the reason she acted the way she did was that she loved him and coulsn't stand the thought of him being with another woman. She said the thought of losing him forever was extremely painful.

After mailing the letter, she didn't bother to call or text him, rather she believed he should be given some space at this troubling time.

When Jan finally ran into Dan, she was as nice as she could be. She mentioned the fun times they'd shared, during the pleasant and casual conversation. She did not apologize again since she already had
verbally and in writing.

Shortly thereafter, Jan got tickets for Dan's favorite band which was in town for one concert only. She asked Dan if he would go with her "just as friends." This way she was opening the door to a future relationship without crowding him.

Getting back an ex after behaving badly and dumped him is difficult. Not only do you have the embarrassment of apologizing, but you are now starting from scratch on the relationship. The main component is rebuilding trust.

Jan and Dan did eventually get back together. Dan saw the outburst as that of a jealous woman who loved him deeply. He saw it as a mistake that they could both grow from.

Jan had taken the right approach in getting Dan back.
