    Uses

    • Time and attendance, factory data collection and access control are a few of the applications for a slot scanner in the workplace. Slot scanners connect easily to personal computers and process bar coded information as if it was typed directly into the computer.

    Reading Ability

    • Slot scanners read bar coded information using a visible red or infrared light source. The visible red light source can read any color ink except red, while the infrared light source can read carbon-based black inks only, and is also capable of reading bar coded information through a laminated cover.

    Cost

    • Slot scanners are priced according to specific models and features, but typically cost $58 to $139. Most slot scanner models require an external power source, which generally costs about $10.
