How to Change a Headlight in an Eldorado
- 1). Park the Eldorado on a level surface and set the parking brake. Raise the hood and support it with the hood prop. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench.
- 2). Remove the screws around the inside of the headlight grille with a Phillips screwdriver. Depending on the year of the vehicle, six to nine screws will have to be removed. Remove the headlight grille.
- 3). Remove the two or four screws from the headlight's bezel, the trim around the headlight, with a Phillips screwdriver. There will be one or two screws on both the top and bottom of the bezel. Remove the bezel.
- 4). Pull on the headlight until the wiring harness attached to the rear is visible. Hold the headlight with one hand and unplug the wiring harness with the other. Remove the headlight.
- 5). Place the new headlight in position to be mounted and plug in the wiring harness. Push the headlight into the housing slowly so the wiring harness doesn't get caught on anything.
- 6). Replace the bezel and secure it with the two or four screws that were removed.
- 7). Replace the headlight grille and secure it in place with the six or nine screws that were removed. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten it down with a socket wrench. Close the hood and test the new headlights.
