Mesh fencing generally comes on rolls and is easily customized for height and width. Simply unroll the mesh, cut to the desired size and staple it to posts in the ground. Cedar is one of several fence post options that work with mesh fencing. There are several design ideas to consider that relate to both the layout and visual appearance. - When you design a mesh fence, remember the closer your cedar posts are, the more durable the fence will be. The further apart the posts are spaced, the easier it will be for the mesh to become bent or misshapen. Consider the main use for your fence. If you have children or pets that may try to climb the fence or knock into the side, space the cedar posts at close intervals.
- Mesh is one of the weakest fencing types available, but by adding one layer to each side of the cedar posts, it creates an additional barrier if one side becomes bent or broken. Use thick cedar posts to ensure the space between the two layers is wide enough.
- To add visual interest to your yard, make your mesh fence with cedar posts in a shape that's non-traditional. The malleability of mesh allows you to easily bend the fencing to create a circular or oval fence. Shapes like a hexagon or triangle are easily made with proper post positioning.
- The bare metal and wood of mesh fencing with cedar posts may not provide the most visually attractive barrier. Spruce up the fence by adding a coat of paint. You can paint the posts and mesh the same color for conformity. Opting for different colors such as white cedar posts and blue fencing adds a touch of personal style to the area. For an eclectic, artistic feel to the fence, paint elaborate designs, patterns or collages onto the posts.
