How to Install a 57 Chevy Windshield
- 1). Place a new windshield seal around the edge of the windshield. Insert a nylon rope into the groove around the outside edge of the windshield seal, with both ends exiting the groove in the bottom center of the windshield. Tape the ends of the rope to the middle of the inside of the windshield.
- 2). Spray a soapy solution into the outside edge of the seal, and on the metal windshield rim on the car. Set the windshield into position on the outside of the 1957 Chevy.
- 3). Carefully pull the ropes in toward the dashboard, while someone presses on the bottom edge of the windshield from outside the car. Work slowly, 1 inch at a time, pulling the rubber seal into the car toward both bottom corners. Have someone continue pressing gently from the outside of the windshield, precisely where you are pulling the rope.
- 4). Slowly pull the rope into the car up each side of the windshield, taking care not to tear the rubber, while someone presses from the outside on the appropriate area. Continue pulling the rope across the top of the windshield, until the entire rubber seal has slipped into the inside of the car.
