Common Side Effects

• The most common side effects of Roxicodone are typically not serious in nature. In fact, your doctor may be able to prevent any side effects of the drugs by prescribing you a low dosage and gradually building from there. Patients that do experience side effects from Roxicodone most commonly report gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, constipation and vomiting. Other common side effects of the drug include headaches, itching, insomnia, dizziness, weakness and drowsiness.
  
  

Other Side Effects

• Roxicodone also has the potential to cause a number of other troublesome or annoying, but not dangerous, side effects. These side effects are less common, occurring in less than 3 percent of patients. Neurological and psychiatric side effects like agitation, anxiety, confusion, nerve pain and nervousness as well as drowsiness are possible while taking Roxicodone. Some patients experience skin conditions such as increased sweating and rashes as well as respiratory side effects, including coughing, shortness of breath and sneezing. Other possible side effects of Roxicodone are fever, urinary tract infections and pain in the abdomen, back, neck, muscles or joints.
  
  

Drug Interactions

• Some medications produce unwanted side effects when used in conjunction with Roxicodone. To avoid potentially life-threatening effects upon your respiratory system, you should avoid using other drugs that make you tired or relaxed, such as sleeping pills and sedatives, muscle relaxants and anti-anxiety medications while taking the drug. The most dangerous risk of taking the drug is that of respiratory depression, a life-threatening condition where your body becomes deprived of oxygen. Additionally, Roxicodone causes a decrease in blood pressure, which can lead to shock in rare instances. The drug also increases the pressure inside of your cranium, which can be dangerous if you receive a head injury.
  
  

Dependence

• It is possible to become addicted to Roxicodone when used for an extended period or taken in amounts greater than your doctor prescribes. This leads to a physical dependence on the drug. Physical dependence causes a number of side effects, including restlessness, watery eyes, a runny nose, sweating, chills, muscle pain and dilation of your pupils. Severe dependence has the potential to cause more serious side effects, such as severe anxiety, weakness, anorexia, severe vomiting or diarrhea and dangerous elevations in heart rate.
